The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council (MetroLEC) is a consortium of over 40 local area police departments and law enforcement agencies. These agencies work together to provide unique and highly specialized law enforcement resources to all of its member communities. This regional support system allows the communities involved to have access to outstanding services, support forces and equipment to ensure their well-being in this post 9/11 environment.
At present, law enforcement agencies are faced with an insurmountable number of unique crimes, emergencies and possible disasters. It is impossible for both financial and practical reasons for every community to be fully trained and equipped for every possible contingency. Therefore, local communities have banded together with organizations such as MetroLEC to help each other making us all safer in the end. The member communities recognize that certain critical incidents call for a law enforcement response that may exceed the capabilities of any one single agency, with this intercommunal arrangement, they can call on the assistance of MetroLEC for such situations.
MetroLEC consists of several operational components, comprised of personnel from throughout the MetroLEC communities. These units receive specialized training and equipment and are available to assist any member community in its time of need.
Members of Easton Police Department are serving MetroLEC in the following areas:
- Child Abduction Response Team (CART)
- Mobile Operations Motorcycle Unit (MOP)
- Regional Response Team (RRT)
- Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT)
